Red Ribbon Week 2020 | Team Tommy

10/18/2020 9:14 pm

Hello Pinkerton!

So many of our families have supported Shatterproof in the past by purchasing Team Tommy shirts and attending the annual 5K with us! It is always such an inspiring event and we are so sad that plans had to change this year! Our national virtual event actually occurred on September 26 (super early this year, and for sure, was not the same without the face to face 5K that so many have attended the last two years). We are so thankful to those of you that have donated to Team Tommy in the past! Seeing those green shirts walk into school almost every day seriously warms my heart and reminds me of our mission....to educate, bring awareness and end the stigma of addiction!

RED RIBBON WEEK, which is celebrated annually October 23-31, is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program and is fast approaching! Although this has traditionally been a "Say no to drugs!" week, we will be doing much more than that! We will be talking to the kids about healthy coping skills, ways to deal with stress, and make positive choices that will set them up for success as they continue to grow!

In honor of Red Ribbon Week, Team Tommy and Shatterproof, I wanted to let my Pinkerton peeps have first dibs on Team Tommy masks (YES! there are kid sizes too!). We are selling them for $10. $5 from every mask will go to Shatterproof as they are taking donations for this event through October! Just a timely way to support the amazing work that Shatterproof is doing across our country. To learn more about how important their impact is click here and to learn more about Team Tommy and why we are so passionate about this organization click here. To check out the highlight video from the event click highlight video,

There are a limited number of masks available! Seriously no pressure...I am just putting it out to my Pinkerton peeps first! Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Thanks, as ALWAYS, for your support!

Languages Other Than English (LOTE) & Fine Arts Class Questionnaires

11/24/2019 7:33 pm

CISD is exploring adding more languages to our LOTE (Languages Other Than English) Curriculum and expanding our Fine Arts Curriculum in the next few years. We are soliciting feedback from our community as part of this process. CISD currently offers Spanish, French, Chinese and American Sign Language as part of its LOTE high school graduation required classes.  In middle school, students may begin taking Spanish for high school credit. For the Fine Arts Curriculum requirements, the district offers Music and Art for all elementary students; Art, Choir, Theatre and Band for middle school students; and Art, AP Art History, Band, Cheerleading, Choir, Color Guard, Dance/Drill Team, Jazz (Band), AP Music Theory and Theatre Arts (Drama)  in high school.

We are asking our community to share your input via a brief questionnaire. CLICK HERE to complete the questionnaire by Jan. 31st.

Additional feedback can be shared by emailing input@coppellisd.com.
