We are almost at the end of our first nine weeks, which means it will be time to celebrate our first Global Citizens! At the end of each nine weeks, two learners from each classroom are chosen for modeling the IB profile, demonstrating kindness and respect towards others and for behavior that helps create a better and more peaceful world! In most of the classes, the teacher chooses their Global Citizens. In some of the upper grades, the learners nominate and vote on their citizens. The learners chosen for this honor are celebrated by having a write-up, along with their picture on the bulletin board in the front hallway. In addition, parents are invited to attend a short reception before school where Mrs. Mikkelsen congratulates them and presents them with a certificate. They are also recognized at the spirit assembly at the end of each nine weeks.

In the next several weeks, I will be including some helpful information about childhood anxiety in this newsletter. Below is an article you may find interesting.

Despite the fact it still feels like summer, the holidays will be here before you know it! Sometimes, these special days create added stress for some families, especially if there are financial difficulties due to a job loss, medical expenses, or other reasons. There are resources that can help! Please contact me if these resources would help your family with the added holiday expenses.

Please feel free to contact me if I can help you in any way!! My email is kkirkley@coppellisd.com and my phone number is (214) 496-6812.
